Paul Draper – Live At The Ritz

kscope release ex-Mansun front man Paul Drapers live rendition of Attack Of The Grey Lantern.

Recorded on the 1/3/2018 at Manchester Ritz , it showcases the second part of Paul’s two set performances (the first being a mix of Mansun and solo songs which is almost documented on ‘Live At Scala’).

Other players involved on the fourteen date tour were Ben Sink (lead guitar) , Jon Barnett (drums), Beau Barnard (bass) and Christine Hizon (keyboards).

Exclusive signed copies were available at merch stalls on Paul’s hugely successful acoustic stint last year. It has since been made available online unsigned only on vinyl with download code . No CD release as yet.

Paul Draper Acoustic set and signing Rough Trade West 22nd March

It’s Friday 22nd March 2019 and that can mean only one thing …my favourite  album ever ‘Six’ by Mansun is being reissued for its 21st anniversary. Paul Draper and loyal guitar whiz Ben Sink are at Rough Trade West record shop in London to perform a few acoustic numbers on the back of some successful dates in Japan and China and  here to sign some copies of the album for some forty + fans.

Ben Sink arrives around 17.30 and begins setting up for our evening entertainment. I’m bursting with excitement at a glimpse of the main man (i’ve been in London since 12.00 that day) armed with a stack of record sleeves to hopefully get signed and the determination to be at the front!

I don’t need to wait too long as Paul Draper appears from seemingly nowhere. He’s looking very relaxed and sharp as ever with a haircut and trimmed beard.

The short but appropriate set begins with Paul’s second solo single EP track ‘Friends Make The Worst Enemies’ followed by a cracking rendition of Mansun’s third single from the Six album  ,’Negative’. Some great banter and fan interaction follows before Paul and Ben launch into another solo number ‘The Silence Is Deafening ‘ from the first EP.

Legacy ends the set nicely with Paul inviting us to sing along to the end. After the pleasure of meeting Kscope’s Scott Robinson finally ,whom i have been helping with scans for the deluxe CD set, i meet Paul and he signs the entire stack of stuff i have brought with me .

Shaking hands several times and a couple of photographs with my music hero i leave Rough Trade and London behind to head home South on the train .I am in the happiest of moods and on a real high.

The experience leaves me buzzing for days!

Trevor Horn – The Legend returns

Trevor Horn , legendary producer and Buggles superstar releases The Eighties Reimagined with the Sarm Orchestra .

I was sceptical about this release at first but upon listening to it , it works on so many levels.

Popular 80s tracks flow with haunting melodies and silky vocals from a superb spectrum of artists (see below for track listing and full artist details).

Kim Wilde signs

Very lucky to have a few Kim Wilde items signed by the lady herself and brother Ricky. The first one is a cover of The 1966 Supremes hit ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’ which was a 1986 number 2 chart topper  for Kim with Ricky on Producer duties.

12″ with dedication to me from Kim and Ricky

Tony Hadley Bournemouth 10/10/18

  • Meeting the man …

On arrival at Bournemouth just after our hotel check- in , we just took a wander over to the Pavilion.

Well the timing couldn’t have worked out better as Tony exited the stage doors for a breather.

Without missing a trick , my wife and I managed a quick hello and and I got my album signed by the big man.

This was our first time seeing Tony perform live and he did not disappoint.

His vocals were pitch  perfect accompanied by a superb band as they breezed through Spandau hits , Tony’s solo tracks from his new album ‘Talking To The Moon’ and a few cover versions including a moving tribute to the late Freddie Mercury with Queen’s ‘Somebody To Love’.

It was clear that Tony had the crowd hanging on his every line with classics like ‘Instinction’ and ‘Gold’ entwined with mellower moments with the beautiful ‘Skin Deep’ and the autobiographical ‘What Am I’

Waiting fans outside afterward were treated by a quick but genuine heartfelt greeting from the man himself before disappearing with a wave in his waiting 4×4.

A fantastic night of entertainment including the talent of Damien Wilson who was also greatly received.
